Early French trading post on north shore of lower St. Lawrence about 58°10'W. at port Jacques Cartier. This post is named in Bougainville list 1757 "Chichateka" and is generally known as Chicataka or Apetepy. It was a fishing and whaling station, about 25 miles east of St. Augustin. The concession was granted in 1738 for 10 years. In 1750 it was granted to Lafontaine de Belcour for 15 years. In 1761 Governor Murray granted the concession to Whale Fishing Co. for 3 years.
