Situated near source of Ottawa river. Originally a North West Co. post built before 1820 and included in list of their posts at union of 1821. The post was maintained by the Hudson's Bay Co. from 1821 to date and is included in their list of 1857 and shown on Arrowsmith map 1857 (No. 8).
